Terry Straub, the founder of Sure Start Starting Blanks, was the long-time Athletic Director at St. Marys High School in St. Marys, Pa. after a career as an Airborne Ranger in the United States Army.

It was Terry’s decades of disappointment and frustration trying to find quality and dependably sourced starting blanks that led him to make his own.

“I am convinced that .32 starting blanks are becoming obsolete if they aren’t already,” Terry says. “Therefore, I researched and had discussions with other athletic directors, track & field officials, and coaches before manufacturing blanks.

“My preference was to ‘re-load’ 9mm casings. But I couldn’t find a 9mm blank-firing revolver. So, I found an orange, .380 blank-firing revolver made in Italy. The orange color makes it ideal for use on
school campuses.”

Once Terry found the revolver, his training as an Airborne Ranger led him to make each “re-loaded” .380 ‘crimped’ blanks, that produce a BIGGER BANG and MORE SMOKE.

He utilizes two state-of-the-art Dillon presses to create blanks for a dependable supply at a very fair price.

Sure Start Starting Blanks is fully insured and licensed by the A.T.F. with sales beginning in May 2024.
